Westbourne Convent

We service their heating system - so when it came to their gas boilers requiring replacing we were asked to work in conjunction with their maintenance division to supply and install new boiler equipment.

We designed, installed and commissioned a system comprising of the following:

-       2no. 120kw Immergas boilers

-       1no. 240kw brazed isolation heat exchanger

-       Gas detection system

-       Extended external flue system

-       New circulation pumps

-       Custom made hydraulic header system

-       Expansion and top-up equipment for new primary circuit

As this job was being completed during winter months Proservice installed temporary boilers to maintain the heating required in the convent during the fast turnaround of only 7 days to remove the old equipment and install the new equipment.

A new flue system had to be installed which required the walls to be cored to as to facilitate a new external flue system as we decided to de-commission the internal flue system that we deemed unsafe as it passed though an old chimney routed vertically though bedrooms on the 3 floors above the boiler room in the basement.

As the system infrastructure inside the convent is very old we introduced a primary circuit with the addition of an isolation heat exchanger into the system as to protect the new gas boilers from contamination from the old corroding pipework and installed filters on the secondary side that can be cleaned during maintenance.

As the boiler house is below ground level in a basement plant room we also upgraded the gas detection system to ensure safety of the system.

We are very happy with the result of this installation as are our customers @Sisters of Mercy, Westbourne Convent Limerick whom we hope have many years of service from this new system.
